Watch Your Step

[update: I just failed the "your / you're" test. My apologies to the grammar police.]

... I moved things around.

First, a few acknowledgments. Blog template originally designed by Phu Ly for Wordpress and converted to Blogger by Gecko&Fly (classic) and BlogCrowd (beta). Now that I have paid my dues, a few notes:

Will probably change a few things here and there (already did a bit) to make this more personalized to my taste. The fonts used for the main posts will definitely be changed, though i'm already satisfied with the one used in the sidebar.

Notice the new sidebar widget? (Currently...) This is powered by twitter, made by the same guys that created Blogger and Odeo. I still have not put the other old widgets like my Google Reader shared items, though they will follow soon. Also, notice that horizontal navigation on top, featuring (at last) a link to Hannah's blog, among other things :) The Photos link points to my Picasaweb Albums (i haven't updated that yet, though) which now comes with 1gig of photo and video storage.

So far, I like how things are shaping up.

  3. Does twitter work with other platforms and content management systems? Scanned their site and I can't seem to find the info. :(

Nice template, by the way. I'm not a big fan of the light-text-on-a-dark-background look ('cause of readability issues), but yours is somehow easy on the eyes. Hmm... must be the font face. :)

One suggestion: Make the header/blog title as a link to your blog. Good usability feature; good for SEO too. :)

  4. squashy, they have a javascript snippet that you can put anywhere that javascript is allowed, just to the badges.

I think the header does link to the blog url, :) it's a blogger default. Thanks for the SEO tidbit though. :)

Hmm, i am a big fan of LTODB, :D, maybe it's because it's NSLTNSDB

  6. @squashy... corrections:

...Just go to the badges page.

and about the light-text-on-a-dark-background (LTODB)look, i meant: it's probably easier to read, because it's actually a NSLTONSDB... :)

  7. @angel:

Yep, i like the twitter thing too. I initially used their shockwave widget but it was designed for a white background, so it didn't look too good here. Good thing there's a simple javascript version.

Will add my own blog redesign in my to-procrastinate list :p

that doesn't come as a surprise hehe. But, knowing that you have things other thigns to do that are a lot more important than the blog redesign (cough *MP* cough *THESIS*), the law of procrastination says that, a new blog design should be in order, sooner rather than later. :)

that depends though on how soon you can finish installing *every* possible app in the ubuntu repositories. hehehe.

  8. I just noticed that the comments are hard to read as it is now (when you're just viewing them, and not when you're actually making one). Will try to do something about that.

  9. About the header thing, your blog title still doesn't link to the blog URL; it's the same with other random blogspot blogs I've visited.

Blogs that have images for headers have headers linking to the blog url though (but then again, I checked their source codes and the behavior seems to be user-defined).

I've also checked the sites using Swiftfox (spiffy-fied Firefox) and IE6 and I get the same thing. I use Opera as my default browser, by the way (but you alrady know that). :)

Wonder why this is so? (Things liKe these just interest me, hehe.)

P.S. I'm fairly sure you're not mistaken when you said it's a blogger default; I would expect blogger to make that a default feature too.

P.P.S. Took me a while to figure out your acronyms! :p

  10. yeah, it doesn't link. my bad.

one version of this template while i was in the process of implementing it last weekend did, maybe that's why i remember it that way. ;)

Yup, i'm pretty sure that it's a blogger default to link the header to the blog url. :)

OAR! (okay, i'm pusing it. Obfuscated Acronyms Rock!)

  11. Beh lakihan mo ng konti ung entry titles. Or at least i-bold or anything to emphasize it and set it apart. Medyo nakakalito kasi mag comment. Napapa-comment ako sa post sa taas di kasi masyado defined even with the line.

Weird nga bakit nga hindi clickable ang header mo? Ibig sabihin daw gawa ka ng sariling header na cool. Pero saka na!!!

  12. "Pero saka na!!! "

    that's what's holding me back too. :D

Kating kati na ko magedit ng template to correct the bugs (the original Emire theme, the one that I'm using, uses a larger font for the Post Header)

    Oh well. It can wait.
