Home at last...

Now I can rest my thoughts that Sam is back at home, at last.

The past two weeks has been so difficult for the young Gamis family, Sam having to stay at the hospital for two weeks because of pneumonia. I commend his "kabaitan" during the whole two weeks ordeal (umm, perhaps that's too heavy a word though) of nebulization, sipon-sucking, (cute, but painful to hear) little coughs, and two grueling times of dextrose needle reinsertion, which, for some reason, i both missed. (Mommy han cried with sam on the second time it happened). All this happened during the BSA raid fiasco, (God sometimes works in ways that we cannot comprehend). So the shop was closed for almost two weeks two! Gaah. Well, basta alam ko, what's more tiring than migrating to Linux is doing it while your mind is somewhere else.

So now, Baby sam is out, and tomorrow, i claim that the shop will be open at last (hey, pun, strongly intended. here that, Billy G?).Exciting times ahead.

  3. hay naku mark obvious na wala ka nung IV reinsertions. kasi it was more than two times. it was actually 2 times on the right foot , 1 time on the left, and 1 on each hand. que horror! the two times mark referred to was the 2 extra grueling ordeal where several nurses quit because they had to prick the baby so many times since they couldnt find a good enough vein. And during the last time i did almost cry, but i didnt... :p

  4. Sorry to hear about that, but I'm happy to hear that your kid is out. We had the same ordeal for my sons birthday present (dengue) just this January. I'ts hard, very hard. But your past it, and that's what's important.

Anyway, how's the Ubuntu migration going? I just finished migrating a second shop to slackware recently, and boy, was it draining.

  6. han, sabi mo umiyak ka eh. hehe.

migs, oo nga. sa wakas tapos na. I didn't realize the toll of the events on me until the day he went out of the hospital. I think pneumonia is easier to handle than dengue, tama ba?

about the migration, halos ok na, save for two problematic pcs. Bulk of the job is configuring the desktop para di masyado magulat mga customers. But no preparation is ever complete. Interestingly, the "minor" things i overlooked caused the more pressing troubles to the customers: The absence of the Times New Roman font (already addressed. thanks to the msttcorefonts package), the default settings for openoffice (units in inches, letter as default media size, etc.)

next on to do list is to share the printer. right now my ass is beings saved by Samba sharing. :D

@jas, oo nga, time for recovery, pero baka next week magpatingin na kami sa broncho specialist to check on a possible issue on his throat. more on that later, pero we're praying na everything's ok.

  8. well, as for which is worse, dengue or pneumonia, lets leave it at that. after all, we're not in a pissing contest. they're both bad, and we all came through it fine. although the experience might be harrowing to the child, it's the psychological and emotional factor that takes its toll on the parents (not to mention the strain to your bank account =Þ).

samba rocks... saved my ass before, and has been ever since. and since you've found out already, people can be so nit-picky about things.

wishing luck is for the foolhardy, and i believe that you make your own luck, so all i'll wish for is all the best for you and yours.
